2021 Bruce Trail Rosé
The Bruce Trail is Canada’s oldest and longest marked hiking trail, running 895 km from Niagara Falls to Tobermory, along southern Ontario’s proud
UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
We are fortunate to host a section of the Bruce Trail along the forested verge of Vieni Estates.
Tasting Notes
Vibrant rosé colour with copper highlights; delicate, fragrant and fruity on the nose with notes of apple, melon and cherry; light, balanced with a fruity and savory aftertaste.
Vineyard Notes
We had an early start to summer in 2021 with a hot and dry growing season. Harvest time brought some more volatility and, thankfully, the ideal conditions, earlier on, allowed us to harvest the grapes used for this Rosé before the rains. The late summer diurnal variation was key to developing the sugars and notable colour in the skins. The grapes used for this Rosé were picked from a single block.
Production Notes
As is typical for treatment of our Pinot Noir, yields were kept low to ensure the highest quality fruit. The above seasonal temperature in late summer and fall gave us ideal conditions for maturing. Maceration time was extended to achieve the extraordinary colour of this rosé.
Winemaker's Notes
Pinot Noir is a treasured varietal in Ontario, producing outstanding wines akin to old world Pinots. The somewhat extended maceration period produced a colour that is joyful to observe. The juice was fermented in large stainless steel tanks, heightening the vibrancy of the fruit. This is a lovely, fruity Rosé with great versatility in pairing and, excellent to enjoy, all on its own.
Salute!
