2022 Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a star varietal that thrives on the Vinemount Ridge. Hardy and ripening earlier than many others, it rewards us with consistently well-balanced wines of great character.

Tasting Notes
Ruby Red; intense and fragrant, fruity with hints of red berries and jam; full-bodied with silky tannins, soft and balanced with good length.
.
Vineyard Notes
After a warm and dry March, winter reemerged in April, freezing over the earth and vines. May was warm and spring quickly yielded to extreme heat and recurring heatwaves from June through the end of August. While September and October were warm, increased precipitation hastened the harvest. Thankfully, the extreme heat throughout the summer months gave this vintage the nourishment for the crafting of excellent wines, across varietals.

Production Notes
The Cabernet Franc used for this wine was harvested from three blocks, The wine had skin contact for ten days and was cellared in used French oak for over a year.

Winemaker's Notes

In working with the Cabernet Franc varietal, our winemaking efforts are invigorated. Invigorated by the growing quality of wines in the region; producers are collectively raising the benchmark of quality and we all benefit from this. Cabernet Franc is one such varietal: widely produced in the region, displaying nuances of character by appellation and terroir, that allows us to craft an expression of our land, growing, and winemaking practices. I know you'll enjoy this wine and trust it will give you an indication of the growing prowess of red winemaking in Ontario.
