2020 Bruce Trail Red

The Bruce Trail is Canada’s oldest and longest marked hiking trail, running 895 km from Niagara Falls to Tobermory, along southern Ontario’s proud
UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

We are fortunate to host a section of the Bruce Trail along the forested verge of Vieni Estates.

Tasting Notes
Suggestions of blackberry and chocolate with maturing aromas of prune, plum, earth, leather, currants and meat. More earthy rusticity on the palate. Bright and lively acidity, lingering tannins and a milk chocolate note on the finish.

Vineyard Notes
Our Cabernets were harvested from three distinct blocks, creatively utilizing the fruits from these varying areas. The Baco Noir and De Chaunac were chosen from single blocks.

Production Notes
A late start to spring gave rise to concerns as to the growing season. These were soon settled by an exceptional growing with all the right conditions resulting in a top vintage.
Winemaker's Notes

Our Cabernet blocks were hand-harvested, in medium sized bins, well into October and with a watchful eye on the precipitation levels, the sugars achieved desirable levels. Destemmed and left for an extended maceration period so as to maximize the extraction of character. The hybrids fermented in large stainless steel tanks to heighten the vibrancy of the fruit.

We are always excited by the use of Hybrids and, when blending, seek to bring out the expression of these grapes that thrive in our climate.
