2021 Traminer

Traminer, known in the German tradition as Gewürztraminer, originates from the town of Tramin, in Tyrolean northern Italy. Known by the Romans as Vitis Aminera, it is one of Europe's oldest varietals.

Tasting Notes

Straw-yellow in colour, aromatic, intense, and complex. Sweet tropical notes - lychee pineapple, banana, and candied fruit - pair with spicy notes of nutmeg and artemisia.

Vineyard Notes
After a warm and dry March, winter reemerged in April, freezing over the earth and vines. May was warm and spring quickly yielded to extreme heat and recurring heatwaves from June through the end of August. While September and October were warm, increased precipitation hastened the harvest. Thankfully, the extreme heat throughout the summer months gave this vintage the nourishment for the crafting of an exceptional vintage of Traminer.

Winemaker's Notes

Gewürztraminer has found itself an amenable terroir in the cool deep-clay hills of our vineyard, 190 meters above sea level,  where the vines mature slowly and develop their exotic spiced perfume and well-balanced acidity. The expression of Traminer exemplifies these characteristics, with Tropical notes that transport the senses.
