2019 Chardonnay - BRONZE MEDAL - 2022 National Wine Awards Canada

Bronze Medal Winner - 2022 National Wine Awards of Canada

In 2019, the Vinemount Ridge in Niagara experienced optimal conditions for a cool climate varietal such as Chardonnay. Abundant sun & ample rain created the conditions for our master winemaker to bring you an elegant, balanced & well rounded wine.

Tasting Notes
Straw-yellow with greenish reflections; intense and complex on the nose, ripe fruit, with hints of quince, banana and coconut; medium-bodied, harmonious and savory, good persistence with a fruity and vanilla aftertaste.

Vineyard Notes
A frozen vineyard in April and below seasonal temperatures in May, naturally gave rise to concerns for the growing season ahead. Nature made up for lost time in June with exceptional weather bringing full bloom in a matter of days. The summer was hot and relatively dry and the extended growing season gave the fruit the time it needed to mature. The late summer diurnal variation was key to developing the sugars. The grapes used for this Chardonnay were picked from a single block.
Winemaker's Notes
This Chardonnay has been exposed to oak for 6 months, imparting mild characteristics of the choice oak barrels. We are always exited by the differences in the styles of Chardonnay we produce and, regularly rewarded for our experimentation. This wine is round and versatile, pairing well with fish and more than capable of handling grilled white meats. This is a perennial favourite of ours and I'm joyful at how well received it has been, vintage after vintage.
This varietal is exceptionally expressed, in the various styles of vinification, in Ontario, at par with the greatest of regions, worldwide
