2016 Chardonnay
In 2016, the Vinemount Ridge in Niagara experienced optimal conditions for a cool climate varietal such as Chardonnay. Abundant sun & ample rain created the conditions for our master winemaker to bring you an elegant, balanced & well rounded wine.
Tasting Notes
Straw-yellow with greenish reflections; intense and complex on the nose, ripe fruit, with hints of quince, banana and coconut; medium-bodied, harmonious and savory, good persistence with a fruity and vanilla aftertaste.
In 2019 we released three vintages of Chardonnay, a 2014 Reserve with heavy oaking, a 2016 with mild oaking, and this 2015 aged sur lie with no exposure to oak. Appreciating the varying profiles of Chardonnay, the equally varying preferences of Chardonnay aficionados and, in an effort to showcase the diverse representation of a varietal that is truly a star of Ontario, we present to you a supple, creamy expression with tropical notes to showcase the complexity of this varietal.
Our 2016 vintage offers a mild oak treatment, bridging the gap between the two poles of preference. The smooth silky mouth feel of a chilled glass of this will surely convince you of the rightful place of this varietal in Ontario and resulting position of prominence on the global stage
